About North Devon Cricket Club

Located at Instow, a small village on the coastal road between Barnstaple and Bideford, North Devon Cricket Club was formed in 1823 and has for 181 years provided the facilities for persons of all ages and abilities to enjoy the game of cricket. Situated at the head of the Taw and Torridge estuary it can claim not only to be one of the oldest clubs in the West of England, but also one of the most beautiful. The thatched pavilion is a Grade 2 listed building dating back some 450 years.

The playing field and wicket is undoubtedly the best all-round playing area in Devon and probably the South West. This standard is well recognized with many minor county fixtures being played on the ground. This standard has been achieved by a very strong commitment over many years by the clubs members and officers. A full time groundsman is employed from April to September each year and a large proportion of the clubs annual finances are concentrated in this direction.

We field sides which can accommodate players of all abilities including:

ECB Devon League Premier 1st XI
ECB Devon League Premier 2nd XI
(These sides allow players to perform competitively at the highest level available in the county of Devon)

North Devon League 1st Division 1st XI
North Devon League 2nd Division 2nd XI
North Devon League 3rd Division 3rd XI (This side is weekend development side for colts)
Weekend 3rd XI (Friendly matches)
Ladies XI

Colts sides are fielded at:
Under 12 Colts XI
Under 13 Colts XI
Under 15 Colts XI
Under 17 Colts XI

There are also over 70 Midweek fixtures (The teams for these games are regularly constituted of players, including colts, from many other clubs in the North Devon area, giving them opportunity to enjoy the playing condition and facilities.)
